Answer:

Since l and m are parallel,

let the angle next to (6x+7) be 'a'

then a will be equal to (3x - 16) since 3x-16 and a are corresponding angles

Since the 2 angles make a linear pair,

6x + 7 + 3x -16 = 180

9x -9 = 180

x -1 = 20

x = 21

Since the angles 11y-32 and 6x + 7 are vertically opposite,

11y - 32 = 6x + 7

11y - 32 = 6(21) + 7

11y = 126 + 39

11y = 165

y = 15

1) Find two real numbers whose sum is 30 and whose product is maximized.
sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

1) Both 15.

2) 25 and -25.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Let the 2 numbers be x and 30 - x.

The product  = x(30 - x)

f(x) = x(30 - x)

f(x) = 30x - x^2

Finding  the derivative:

f'(x) = 30 - 2x

Finding the maximum:

30 - 2x = 0

x = 15.

This gives a maximum f(x) because f"(x) = -2.

So the numbers are  15 and 30 - 15 = 15.

2).  If one number is x the other is y.

x - y = 50

y = x - 50

The product =

x(x - 50)

= x^2 - 50x

Finding the derivative:

2x - 50 = 0   for  a minimum value.

2x = 50

x = 25.

So the numbers are  25 and 25-50 = -25.

Simplify the expression. x2 + x - 6 /x2 - 4 · x2 - 9/ x2 + 6x + 9
Agata [3.3K]

we are given

\frac{(x^2+x-6)}{(x^2-4)}*\frac{(x^2-9)}{(x^2+6x+9)}

step-1: Factor terms

x^2+x-6=(x+3)(x-2)

x^2+6x+9=(x+3)^2

x^2-4=(x-2)(x+2)

now, we can plug these values

and we get

=\frac{(x+3)(x-2)}{(x-2)(x+2)}*\frac{(x-3)(x+3)}{(x+3)^2}

step-2: Cancel common terms

we get

=\frac{(x+3)}{(x+2)}*\frac{(x-3)}{(x+3)}

we can again cancel numerator and denominator

and we get

=\frac{(x-3)}{(x+2)}.............Answer
