Macrophagus are the type of white blood cells. These are responsible for providing immunity to the host against the pathogenic attack. These cells engulfs and digest the foreign agents like microbes, cellular debris, cancer cells and unwanted cellular components. This process is called as phagocytosis.

The monocytes transforms into macrophagus in conditions of infection and tissue damage. These monocytes leaves the blood stream and reach at the site of affected tissue or organ.
