Answer:

Problems like this all have the same solution method.

If you have n letters, you start with n!. Then you divide by k! for each distinct set of k letters.

This is purely mechanical. E.g., if you have

AAAAABBBBCCC

DEFGHIJKLMNOP

there are 25 letters, and groups of 5 4 and 3

The answer is 25! / (5! 4! 3!). See, all you need to do is count the letters and then count how many times any letters are repeated. Then you can just write down the answer.

Once you know that, these problems are really, really easy.

olga55 [171]
For a right triangle with legs legnth a and b and hyptonuse c
a^2+b^2=c^2
9 feet from base, that's one leg
wire is hypotnuse, it's 1 more than height on tree
c=b+1

so
9^2+b^2=(b+1)^2
81+b^2=b^2+2b+1
minus b^2+1 from both sides
80=2b
divide both sides by 2
40=b
c=b+1
c=40+1
c=41
legnth of wire is 41ft

Find the nature of the roots of the roots of the equation (x-705)(x-795)+800(x-750)(x-835)=0.
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

If you are allowed to use a graphing calculator, this can solve a lot of time. Graphing y = (x - 705)(x - 795) + 800(x - 750)(x - 835) gets us a parabola with x-intercepts of 749.97 and 834.924.

These roots are real and distinct, or choice B.

If you aren't allowed to use a graphing calculator, you can expand and combine like terms to get 801x^2 − 1269500x + 501560475. Looking at the discriminant, we see that (−1269500)^2 - 4*801*501560475 = 4630488100 is greater than 0 and not a perfect square, so it is real and distinct, or choice B.

I hope that helps!
