<h3><u>Dave is 96 years old.</u></h3><h3><u>Jim is 32 years old.</u></h3><h3><u>Bill is 64 years old.</u></h3>

d = 3j

j = 1/2b

64 = (d + j + b)/3

d = 3(1/2b)

d = 1.5b

64 = (1.5b + 1/2b + b)/3

Combine like terms.

64 = (3b)/3

Multiply both sides by 3.

192 = 3b

Divide both sides by 3.

64 = b

Because we have the value for b we can plug it into the other equations to solve for the other ages.

j = 1/2b

j = 1/2(64)

j = 32

d = 3j

d = 3(32)

d = 96

A simple random sample of 49 8th graders at a large suburban middle school indicated that 82% of them are involved with some typ
melamori03 [73]

Answer:

0.142

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we identify the following parameters;

n = 49

p = 82% = 82/100 = 0.82

alpha, α = 1-0.99 = 0.01

Zα/2 = Z_0.005 = 2.575

margin of error = Zα/2 * √( p(1-p)/n)

Margin of error = 2.575 * √(0.82)(1-0.82)/49

Margin of error =0.1416005 which is approximately 0.142

The average gasoline price of one of the major oil companies in Europe has been $1.25 per liter. Recently, the company has under
Ann [662]

Answer:

t=\frac{1.20-1.25}{\frac{0.14}{\sqrt{49}}}=-2.50

Step-by-step explanation:

Data given and notation

\bar X=1.20 represent the sample mean given

\sigma = 0.14 represent the population standard deviation

n=49 sample size

\mu_o =1.25 represent the value that we want to test

t would represent the statistic (variable of interest)

State the null and alternative hypotheses.

We need to conduct a hypothesis in order to check if the true mean for the gasoline prices is lower than 1.25, the system of hypothesis would be:

Null hypothesis:\mu \geq 1.25

Alternative hypothesis:\mu < 1.25

If we analyze the size for the sample is > 30 but we don't know the population deviation so is better apply a t test to compare the actual mean to the reference value, and the statistic is given by:

t=\frac{\bar X-\mu_o}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}}  (1)

Calculate the statistic

We can replace in formula (1) the info given like this:

t=\frac{1.20-1.25}{\frac{0.14}{\sqrt{49}}}=-2.50
