I think it's pretty interesting to look at it from the universe perspective:  we are part of the universe, so that means the universe evolved consciousness, and/or the universe is conscious of itself, in a way.  We seem to be a flabbergasting, rare outcome of evolution and favorable environmental conditions.  For now our purpose should be self-preservation and continued inquiry into this astounding set of circumstances.
