Answer:    3. Defense mechanisms

Explanation:  The defense mechanism is a tool for reducing tension and the tendency to reduce tension is one of the drivers in humans, and all to reduce feeling of anxiety. This issue was addressed by Fried and his daughter Anna.

According to Freud, there are three parts of personality, or three parts of the psyche. First, it is an ID that is the primitive or instinctive part of the psyche in charge of meeting the lowest needs, containing hidden and repressed memories, usually fuelled by aggressive and sexual drives. Then, opposite the ID is Superego who is "in charge" of morality, conscience, ethics, that is, higher models and role models in the psyche, that is, something sublime. Anxiety arises from the conflict between these two parts of the psyche, and the moderator, or part of the psyche, which is in fact a tool, i.e the defense mechanism for reducing anxiety is the Ego. The defense mechanism is triggered every time there is a conflict between ID and Superego and then the Ego helps to overcome this conflict. According to Freud, the Ego develops a range of tactics to successfully deal with ID and Superego and help overcome conflict and reduce tension, i.e anxiety.
