Answer:

Sales = $950,000

Selling Price per book = $50

Selling Expense = $104,000

Administrative Expense = $112,000

Variable Selling Expense per book = $4

Selling and Administrative Expense = Selling Expense + Administrative Expense

Selling and Administrative Expense = $104,000 + $112,000

Selling and Administrative Expense = $216,000

Variable Administrative Expense per book = 3% * Selling Price per book

Variable Administrative Expense per book = 3% * $50

Variable Administrative Expense per book = $1.50

Variable Selling and Administrative Expense per book = Variable Selling Expense per book + Variable Administrative Expense

Variable Selling and Administrative Expense per book = $4.00 + $1.50

Variable Selling and Administrative Expense per book = $5.50

Number of books sold = Sales / Selling Price per book

Number of books sold = $950,000 / 50

Number of books sold = 19,000

Variable Selling and Administrative Expense = Variable Selling and Administrative Expense per book * Number of books sold

Variable Selling and Administrative Expense = $5.50 * 19,000

Variable Selling and Administrative Expense = $104,500

Fixed Selling and Administrative Expenses = Selling and Administrative Expense - Variable Selling and Administrative Expense

Fixed Selling and Administrative Expenses = $216,000 - $104,500

Fixed Selling and Administrative Expenses = $111,500

Cost formula for Selling and Administrative Expenses is:

Y = $5.50 * X + $111,500, where Y is Selling and Administrative Expense and X is number of books sold

Assume the $19,500 Treasury bill, 4% for 15 weeks. Calculate the effective rate of interest.
Svet_ta [14]
The effective interest rate is calculated through the equation,
                               ieff = (1 + i/r)^r - 1
where ieff is the effective interest, i is the nominal interest, and r is the number of 15 weeks in a year. Every year, there are 52 weeks. Thus, there are 3.467 15-weeks approximately. Substituting this into the equation,
                                  ieff  = (1 + 0.04/3.467)^3.467 - 1
                                  ieff = 0.04057
                                     ieff = 4.057%

Missing Information:

The normal capacity of  is 40,000 direct labor hours and 20,000 units per month. A finished unit requires 6 lb of materials at an estimated cost of $2 per pound. The estimated cost of labor is $10.00 per hour.

Answer:

Raw materials Inventory   260,000 debit

D:M price variance                2,600 debit

     Account Payable                   257,400 credit

--to record the purchase ---

WIP-Inventory          248,000 debit

DM quality variance    2,000 debit

       Raw materials Inventory   250,000 debit

--to record requisition of materials--

WIP-Inventory    420,000 debit

D:L rate variance    1,640 debit

    Wages Payables             411,640 credit

    DL efficiency variance     10,000 credit

--to record the charge of labor into WIP--

Explanation:

130,000 pounds x $1.98 (actual)      = $257,400‬

130,000 pounds x $2.00 (standard) = $260,000

variance 2,600 favorable

Quantity Variance:

actual: 125,000 x $2 = 250,000

standard:  21,000 x 6 = 124,000 pounds x $2 = 248,000

variance: 2,000 unfavorable

41,000 hours x $10.04 each = $411,640

41,000 hours x $10.00 each = $410,000

rate variance 1,640 unfavorable

efficiency variance:

21,000 x 2 hours = 42,000 hours x $10 = 420,000

actual 41,000 x $10 = 410,000

favorable 10,000
