Both Ulysses and Robert E Lee had a great passion for wanting to preserve the union.also were both great war generals who had faught in the mexican war and had both participated in a march to mexico city for their passion of what they had been fighting for. but  the <span>North was represented by Grant and the South by Lee.  lee was a very clever with his military tactics as to grant who had used strategy overtime  Ulysses was forced in the military as to grant who was carrng on the family tradition.</span>
