What is the path of H+ions through the thylakoids

Biology

Mariana [72]3 years ago

Answer and Explanation:

Hydrogen ions in the thylakoid space form an electrochemical gradient because of the difference in the concentration of protons (H+) and the difference in the charge across the membrane that they create. This potential energy is stored as chemical energy in ATP through chemiosmosis. The hydrogen ions are allowed to pass through the thylakoid membrane through an embedded protein complex called ATP synthase. Energy from the electron fuels membrane pumps that actively move hydrogen ions against their concentration gradient from the stroma into the thylakoid space. The photon causes an electron in the chlorophyll to become excited.

What is the process by which a trait present in an ancestral organism is modified by natural selection over time in descendants
dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

d) descent with modification

Explanation:

According to my research on Darwin's theory of natural selection, I can say that based on the information provided within the question the term being described is called descent with modification. This basically refers to the most dominant traits being passed down from generation to generation, and being modified little by little in each lineage. Which is done through natural selection.

Which of the following has the element correctly matched with its description?
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Hello. This question is incomplete. It is important that you always provide all the information so that your question can be answered the way you deserve.

The full question is:

"Which of the following has the element correctly matched with its description?

The duodenum is the first section of the small intestine and contains Peyer's patches.

The bile moves upward and backward and pushes the bolus

The bones attaches the liver to the anterior abdominal wall

Tongue toxins prevent water absorption in the large intestine"

Answer:

The duodenum is the first section of the small intestine and contains Peyer's patches.

Explanation:

It is true that the duodenum is the first section of the small intestine where Peyer's patches are located. The duodenum is the place where most of the entire digestive process occurs, in addition, it allows food to mix with bile and digestive juices.

Peyer's patches play an important role in immunological surveillance during digestive processes. This is because it allows the destruction of possible pathogens associated with food, or that interfere with digestion in some way.

A bacterium was found to contain a sequence of ATCGGGATCCT in its genome. A few generations later, the sequence was found to be
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

This question lacks options, the options are:

A) Deletion

B) Duplication

C) Inversion

D) Insertion

The correct answer is Insertion mutation

Explanation:

Mutation refers to changes that occur to the nucleotide sequence of a gene or DNA. Mutation produces different effect in the mutated organism and is classified based on how it occurs. Mutations can be deletion, insertion, duplication, inversion etc.

Based on the description of the mutation that occured to the bacterium sequence, it is an INSERTION MUTATION. An insertion mutation is a kind of mutation in which extra nucleotide bases are added to the original sequence. This is the case of this bacteria sequence, which was previously found to contain: ATCGGGATCCT.

After few generations, nucleotide bases "GGG" i.e three Guanine bases has been added to the sequence to give a mutated sequence: ATCGGGGGGATCCT.
