The total number of combinations available to just pick 1 t-shirt is 20

<u>Explanation:</u>

Given:

4 different sizes of t-shirts are available

5 different colors of t-shirt are available

Different outcomes if the t-shirts have to be picked one by one:

Different outcomes = 4! + 5!

                                = 24 + 120

                                = 144

Number of combinations available to just pick 1 t-shirt is:

Number of combinations = 4 X 5

                                          = 20

Therefore, the total number of combinations available to just pick 1 t-shirt is 20

The National Center for Education Statistics reported that 47% of college students work to pay for tuition and living expenses.
Luden [163]

Using the z-distribution, it is found that the 95% confidence interval for the proportion of college students who work to pay for tuition and living expenses is: (0.4239, 0.5161).

If we had increased the confidence level, the margin of error also would have increased.

<h3>What is a confidence interval of proportions?</h3>

A confidence interval of proportions is given by:

\pi \pm z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

In which:

  • \pi is the sample proportion.
  • z is the critical value.
  • n is the sample size.

In this problem, we have a 95% confidence level, hence\alpha = 0.95, z is the value of Z that has a p-value of \frac{1+0.95}{2} = 0.975, so the critical value is z = 1.96. Increasing the confidence level, z also increases, hence the margin of error also would have increased.

The sample size and the estimate are given as follows:

n = 450, \pi = 0.47.

The lower and the upper bound of the interval are given, respectively, by:

\pi - z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}} = 0.47 - 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.47(0.53)}{450}} = 0.4239

\pi + z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}} = 0.47 + 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.47(0.53)}{450}} = 0.5161

The 95% confidence interval for the proportion of college students who work to pay for tuition and living expenses is: (0.4239, 0.5161).

A farm has 75 acres of wheat. The farmer can only harvest 12 acres per day. How many days will all of the fields be harvested?
eduard
7 days because 12 per day 12×6=72 but you need 3 more acres so it would be another day for it to be 7

The focal length, F, in a camera is given by the following function, where d is the distance from the lens in the camera to the
maria [59]
You are asked to solve the equation given for d. As it is a proportion you can cross multiply and then isolate the d.

F= \frac{2.24d}{d+2.24}
F(d+2.24)=2.24d
Fd+2.24F=2.24d

Next factor out d to obtain

2.24F=d(2.24-F)
d= \frac{2.24F}{2.24-F}

Using function notation: G(d)= \frac{2.24F}{2.24-F}
