Before the storm, last minute preparations should include:

Make sure your windows are protected and your home is secured.Check your disaster supplies kit. Make sure you have water, non-perishable food, medications and don't forget that non-electric can opener.Clean containers for cleaning water. Line the bathtub with plastic sheeting or a clean shower curtain, or caulk the drain with silicone caulking — it holds water for weeks and cleans up easily when dry. Plan on three gallons per person, per day for all uses (including flushing the toilet).

During the storm, howling winds, driving rain and the threat of tornadoes make riding out a hurricane a scary ordeal. Follow these tips for staying safe in your home during a hurricane:

Stay inside and away from windows, skylights and glass doors. Find a safe area in your home (an interior room, a closet or bathroom on the lower level). If flooding threatens your home, turn off electricity at the main breaker. If you lose power, turn off major appliances such as the air conditioner and water heater to reduce damage.

How do bacteria in hydrothermal vents produce food?
yarga [219]
B... These microbes are the foundation for life in hydrothermal vent ecosystems. Instead of using light energy to turn carbon dioxide into sugar like plants do, they harvest chemical energy from the minerals and chemical compounds that spew from the vents—a process known as chemosynthesis . (I got this off the web hope it helps)

How are the results of genetic drift similar to the results of gene flow?
Fynjy0 [20]
The answer is Both result in a change in allele frequencies in the affected population

Genetic drift is a change in the frequency of alleles in a population as a result of random sampling of organisms. Imagine you have two different alleles in the population responsible for red and white color of a flower. Their allele frequencies are 0.2 for white flowers and 0.8 for red flowers. After some change in the environment, only white flowers survive. They will reproduce, and in the population, there will be only white flowers. The population for these flowers will increase from 0.2 to 1.
Speaking of gene flow, it is not as dramatic and drastic as genetic drift, but still, it includes a transfer of alleles from one population to another, so there is expected a change in allele frequency.

The diagram shows two cells. Identify structures C, D, and E and explain how they work together to perform a specific process wi
soldi70 [24.7K]

Structure C, D, and E in the diagram represent the endoplasmic reticulum, the ribosome, and the Golgi apparatus respectively.

When the ribosomes are attached to the endoplasmic reticulum, they give it a rough appearance.

The ribosome, endoplasmic reticulum, and the Golgi apparatus work together in the synthesis and transport of protein within the cell. In other words, they are all involved in the secretory pathway of cells.

 • The ribosome represents the actual site of protein synthesis.
 • The endoplasmic reticulum gets involved by folding the synthesized proteins and packaging them into secretory vesicles. Thereafter, the vesicles are transported to the Golgi apparatus.
 • The packaged proteins undergo further processing within the Golgi apparatus before they are exported to the cell membrane via the cytosol.

In other words, the 3 organelles work together to form the secretory pathway of the cell. They are involved in the synthesis, packaging, processing, and eventual transport of proteins to their target sites.
