Mr. aba builds a circular patio with a diameter of 12 feet he covers the patio with paving stones the cost of the paving stones
Sedaia [141]
1.) Find the area of the circle:
• Formula: A=pi•r^2

- To find the area of a circle, we need to have the radius, and since the diameter is 2x the length of the radius, the radius is 1/2 of the diameter.

Finding the radius: r=d/2

r=12/2

r = 6.

- Now that we know that r=6, we can substitute it into the formula:
• A=pi•r^2

A=pi•(6)^2

A=113.097

- The area of the circle is 113.097ft.^2. We know that a square foot is $10.50. So, we have 113.097 square feet at $10.50/sq. foot. This means that we will add $10.50 113.097 times. Therefore:

113.097 • 10.50 = 1,187.518

So, total, it will cost $1,187.518

Why is 1/6 greater than 1/8 but less than 1/3
VladimirAG [237]

So first thing we have to realise is that we have to make them have equal denominators. So,

\frac{1}{6} =  \frac{4}{24}  \\ \\   \frac{1}{8} =  \frac{3}{24}  \\  \\  \frac{1}{3} =  \frac{8}{24}.

Now order the fractions....so,

\frac{1}{3} = \frac{8}{24}  \\  \\ \frac{1}{6} = \frac{4}{24} \\ \\ \frac{1}{8} = \frac{3}{24}

Now we can see why \frac{1}{6} is greater than \frac{1}{8} but less than \frac{1}{3}

A beach erodes at a rate of 2cm per year. At this rate, what amount is it eroding in millimeters per hour
worty [1.4K]

The amount eroded at millimetre per hour is 0.002283

In order to determine the answer, take the following steps :

1. determine how many hours are in a year

there are 24 hours in a day

There are 365 days in a year

Number of hours in a year = number of days in a year x number of hours in a day

24 x 365 = 8760 hours

2. convert centimetre to millimetre

1 cm = 10mm

2cm x 10 = 20mm

3. Amount eroded per hour in millimetres = amount eroded per year / total number of hours in a year

20 / 8760 = 0.002283 millimetre / hour
