It will be ineffective because individuals compete with each other to solve an issue and don’t want to make it worse. In competing, an individual doesn’t listen to anyone if they continuously argue, so an individual will not be able to do things properly as he wants.

Further Explanation:

Interpersonal conflict can be defined as a disagreement in various ways which can be professional, physical, personal or emotional between two or more individuals. Such differences and disagreements are ordinary in families, workplaces, and society, in common and it is not necessary that these disagreements or differences are violent or physical. There are different types of interpersonal conflicts:

  1. Pseudo conflicts: This type of conflict has “minor disagreements” that mask a “deeper conflict” in the relationship.
  2. Policy conflicts: This type of conflict is disagreements or differences about how an individual deals with any situation.
  3. Ego conflicts: In this type of conflict, if an individual loses the argument then it would damage an individual’s self-esteem.
  4. Value conflicts: No two individuals have the same set of values. Conflicts based on values can be difficult to resolve.

If you compete with one another, it will be ineffective because you want to solve the problem, not make it worse. Whoever you're conflicting with will never listen to you if you continuously clash and you won't be able to do anything properly that way.
Hope that helped you.

Conditioned stimulus refers to the neutral stimulus that trigger a specific response after being associated for a prolonged period of time with unconditioned stimulus.

In the case above:

- the toilet flush is previously a neutral stimulus that does not trigger any response.

- The toilet flush later on paired with unconditioned stimulus (hot water) that make jeff scream in pain
