<em>You could mulitply both of them by the same number. For example,the ratio is 1:2. (Ratios can be written like: 1:2, 1 to 2, and 1/2) Now, the multiply part. Lets multiply by, lets say, 5. You multiply 5 to the denominator and numerator so it would look like this: 5/5 × 1/2. That equals to 5/10. Since 5/5 is euqal to 1, 5/10 is basically equivalent to 1/2. </em>
