Step-by-step explanation:

A shipping company charges $6 to ship a package that weighs up to 1 pound and $2 for each additional pound or portion of a pound.

lets make an assumption that the total weight of the shipment is x pound and cost for shipping is y.

the shipping company charges $6 for the first pound.

Up to now the charge is y=6

After 1 pound, i.e for the remaining (x-1) pounds, they charge $2 per pound.

So, the total charge will be, y=6+2(x-1)

weight is always starting from zero as there is no negative weight.so X>0

so the equation is 6(2x-1), where X is more than 0

bicycle costs $150. It is advertised on sale for 32% off. What is the cost savings? Solve using two different methods.
alina1380 [7]
The savings is the amount taken off or 32% of 150

32% of 150 is 0.32 times 150=48

savings is $48

or you can do
150/100=x/32
cross multiply to get
x=48

so savings is $48

BD is tangent to circle O at C, m(arc AEC) = 280, and m(arc ACE) = 140. Find m (The figure is not drawn to scale.)
Zepler [3.9K]

Answer:

The correct answer is second option 60°

Step-by-step explanation:

From the figure we can write,

measure of arc AEC = measure of arc AE + measure of CE

measure of arc ACE = measure of AC +  measure of CE

measure of arc AEC + measure of arc ACE = 280 + 140 = 420°

measure of arc AE + measure of CE + measure of AC +  measure of CE = 420

measure of arc AE + measure of CE +  measure of AC = 360°

measure of CE = 420 - 360 = 60°

The correct answer is second option 60°

tina saved 25 more dimes than nickels. she saved 6 times as many dimes as nickels. how much money did she save in all
nikklg [1K]
25 ÷ (6 - 1) = 25 ÷ 5 = 5, she saved 5 nickels,

5 nickels = 5 × 5 = 25 cents = $0.25

5 + 25 = 30, she saved 30 dimes, 30 dimes = 300 cents = 3 dollars.

3 + 0.25 = $3.25, she saved $3.25 in all.
