Answer:

the answer is D

Explanation:

Disagree. Cost accounting data plays a key role in many management planning and control decisions. The division president will be able to make better operating and strategy decisions by being involved in key decisions about cost pools and cost allocation bases. Such an understanding, for example, can help the division president evaluate the profitability of different customers The salary of a plant security guard would be a direct cost when the cost object is the security department of the plant. It would be an indirect cost when the cost object is a product. Exhibit 14-1 outlines four purposes for allocating costs:

1. To provide information for economic decisions.

2. To motivate managers and employees.

3. To justify costs or compute reimbursement.

4. To measure income and assets for reporting to external parties.

Exhibit 14-2 lists four criteria used to guide cost allocation decisions:

1. Cause and effect.

2. Benefits received.

3. Fairness or equity.

Ability to bear. The cause-and-effect criterion and the benefits-received criterion are the dominant criteria when the purpose of the allocation is related to the economic decision purpose or the motivation purpose. Using the levels approach introduced in Chapter 7, the salesvolume variance is a Level 2 variance. By sequencing through Level 3 (salesmix and salesquantity variances) and then Level 4 (marketsize and marketshare variances), managers can gain insight into the causes of a specific sales-volume variance caused by changes in the mix and quantity of the products sold as well as changes in market size and market share. The total salesmix variance arises from differences in the budgeted contribution margin of the actual and budgeted sales mix. The composite unit concept enables the effect of individual product changes to be summarized in a single intuitive number by using weights based on the mix of individual units in the actual and budgeted mix of products sold. A favorable salesquantity variance arises because the actual units of all products sold exceed the budgeted units of all products sold. The salesquantity variance can be decomposed into (a) a marketsize variance (because the actual total market size in units is different from the budgeted market size in units), and (b) a market share variance (because the actual market share of a company is different from the budgeted market share of a company). Both variances use the budgeted average contribution margin per unit.

kari74 [83]

Answer:

1. 2,584

Explanation:

future payments: $1,000 in 1 year and $2,000 in 3 years

the present value of alternative I (one year bond):

$1,000 / 1.06 = $943.40

the present value of alternative II (first 2 years and then 1 year):

$2,000 / 1.065 = $1,877.93 ⇒ PV at year 2

PV at year 0 = $1,877.93 / 1.07² = $1,640.26

the total present value of both options = $943.40 + $1,640.26 = $2,583.66 ≈ $2,584

MatroZZZ [7]

Answer: a. $22,725,000

b. 16.00 rights per new share

c. $53.47 per share

d. $0.53 per share

Explanation:

(a)-New Market Value

New Market Value = [Number of shares outstanding x Price per share] + [New shares issued x Price per share]

= [400,000 shares x $54 per share] + [25,000 shares x $45 per share]

= $21,600,000 + $1,125,000

= $22,725,000

(b)-Number of rights needed

Number of rights needed = Current number of shares outstanding / New shares issued

= 16.00 rights per new share

(c)-Ex-rights price

Ex-rights price = New Market Value / Total number of shares outstanding

= $22,725,000 / [400,000 shares + 25,000 shares]

= $22,725,000 / 425,000 shares

= $53.47 per share

(d)-Value of a right

Value of a right = Current market price per share - Ex-rights price

= $54.00 per share - $53.47 per share

= $0.53 per share

lions [1.4K]

Answer:

Monthly payment= $18,979.05

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Loan (PV)= 3,000,000*0.8= $2,400,000

Monthly interest rate (i)= 0.05/12= 0.00416667

Number of periods (n)= 15*12= 180 months

To calculate the monthly payment, we need to use the following formula:

Monthly payment= (PV*i) / [1 - (1+i)^(-n)]

Monthly payment= (2,400,000*0.00416667) / [1 - (1.00416667^-180)]

Monthly payment= $18,979.05

a. What is the price (expressed as a percentage of the face value) of a one-year, zero-coupon corporate bond with a AAA rati
VikaD [51]

Answer and Explanation:

a. The computation of price (expressed as a percentage of the face value) is shown below:-

Price = Face value ÷ (1 + Yield to maturity)^Number of the compounding period

= $1,000 ÷ (1 + 0.0323)^1

= $1,000 ÷ 1.0323

= $968.71

Price expected as a percentage to a face value = Price ÷ Face value × 100

= $968.71 ÷ $1,000 × 100

= 96.87%

b. The computation of credit spread of AAA-rated corporate bonds is shown below:-

Credit spread = Yield of AAA-rated corporate bond - Yield of treasury bond

= 3.23% - 3.15%

= 0.08%

c. The computation of credit spread on B-rated corporate bonds is shown below:-

Credit spread = Yield of B-rated corporate bond - Yeld of treasury bond

= 4.94% - 3.15%

= 1.79%

d. The credit rating for a bond changes with its respective credit risk change. That implies the bond 's rating would be lower the lower risk, and likewise.

The investor is demanding higher returns on risky bonds for additional risk-taking. Hence the credit spread is widening as the rating of bonds falls with an increase in the risk.
