This is because smoking is bad for health - it can lead to cancer, lung problems and some other illnesses. While people should be allowed to smoke if they are adult and aware of the risks, no one should be forced to inhale smoke in public - especially the children have to be protected from the smoke. Hence, in many public places smoking is prohibited.

Why? Because smoking is bad for the enviorment of the public place. It's not good for children to breath in that bad air or for adults. It's very unhealthy. Plus if many places do prohibited smoking more and more it could lead to a law. Where know one is allowed to smoke. Do you how many people die from smoking or get lung cancer. There was a woman who was pregnat and smoked. Her baby came so small she had to talk to her baby through a tube! It's just sad! Hopefully this helps
