Aneuploidy can be defined as a type of chromosomal mutation due to abnormality in chromosome numbers. Aneuploidy represents one of the most important features of cancer cells.
The p53 (protein 53) is a tumor-suppressor protein, which prevents tumor formation by regulating cell division of mutated cells. It induces apoptosis of mutated cells having mutated DNA.
A malfunctioned or mutated p53 promotes aneuploidy in cells by inhibiting proteins of DNA repair systems which prevent chromosomal abnormalities.
