Correct answer:

Many Americans had a widespread fear of further attacks following Pearl Harbor.

Explanation:

After Pearl Harbor was attacked, there was much suspicion directed against Japanese Americans. There was fear that they might give information to the Japanese or somehow participate in attacks against the U.S. Suspicious of anyone of Japanese heritage, the government restricted the civil liberties of Japanese Americans. In February, 1942, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, which allowed the Secretary of War to designate certain areas as military zones. FDR's executive order set the stage for the relocation of Japanese-ancestry persons to internment camps. By June of 1942, over 100,000 Japanese Americans were sent to such internment camps.

Which statement about the beliefs of Enlightenment philosophers is correct?
Makovka662 [10]

Answer: D is correct.

Explanation: laws of reason are mere fictions. Philosophy of rights is dedicated to this issue but in its very fundaments there are fundamental questions that are still not answered (becase both laws of nature and laws of reason are products of human intellect, i.e. they cannot be experimentally proved. In spite of its fictitious nature, theese laws became one of the pillars of Enlightenment. French philophers, for example, attempted to ground ethics on mathematics which proved to be inviable.

Which of the 18 powers of Congress listed allows them to declare war? Give the number.
Keith_Richards [23]

The power of Congress that allows them to declare war is Number 11.

It gives them the right to declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water.

Further explanation

The United States Congress has declared war 11 times since its creation against:

 • England in 1812;
 • Mexico in 1846;
 • Spain in 1898;
 • Germany in 1917 during the First World War;
 • Japan, Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania between 1941 and 1942 during the Second World War.

Generally, it was the President of the United States as the chief of the armies, who asks the Congress for authorization to declare war. The President can ask them to support the continuation of military operations during the conflict as well. It was particularly the case during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War.
