Waters in the coastal ocean tend to be more productive than waters of similar depth in the open ocean. What is the main reason f
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

The coastal ocean seems to be more productive than the waters of the similar height in the open ocean due to ample availability of water, sunlight, and nutrients. The coastal ocean has more nutrients due to the process of upwelling, that is, movement of water offshore by the currents.

Also, water situated on the continental shelves is comparatively shallower and thus it is turbulent. This mixing or turbulence keeps settling the nutrients stirred up and accessible, and eventually, ample of nutrients erode off the continents themselves and so water nearby to the shore seems to be greater in nutrients.

On the other hand, in the surface water away from the coastlines, usually, there is a lot of sunlight but no availability of adequate nutrients. Therefore, the majority of the ocean surface is not much productive.

oee [108]

Answer:

About composition of water and organisms that lives there.

Explanation:

scientists might be able to learn about the composition of seawater that was present millions of years ago if we study those stones that comes in contact to that ancient seawater because the traces of particles still present on it. This study provides valuable information about ancient times of earth and its natural resources. These rocks also provides animals that were present in that sea water at that time.

If one is constructing a phylogeny of reptiles using DNA sequence data, which taxon (birds, mammals, amphibians or fish) might b
neonofarm [45]

Answer: If one is constructing a phylogeny of reptiles using DNA sequence data of birds, mammals, amphibians or fish, the suitable outgroup to be used are mammals due to the time of divergence from other group of organisms.

Explanation: Phylogeny is used to determine evolutionary relationship between items or organisms. A phylogenetic tree is a graphical illustration of phylogenetic relationship. In phylogeny, an outgroup represent an organism that is more distantly related to other group of organisms.

In a phylogenetic tree, outgroup stands alone. It shows that the time of divergence of that particular organism is far from other group of organisms. Outgroup is used to root a tree and sometimes represent a group that is more ancestral on a tree.

It should be noted that differences in the DNA sequences of the organisms under consideration will determine which organism will serve as the outgroup.
