1) Resource persons can serve as an inspiration source for the students as the students are made to identify with the topics being introduced

2) Resource persons can give increased understanding of a topic from a perspective not usually presented in books

3) Resource person can motivate students to take certain career paths as they become more aware about the nature of the career

Three disadvantages of using a resource person are;

1) High cost

Depending on the availability, it can be costly to secure the service of a resource person due to the charges incurred for setting up the meeting and some resource person may charge a fee for the presentation.

2) Deviation from the topic by the resource person

Without proper guidance, the resource person may digress from the points intended for the presentation

3) Poor handling of the topics presented

Resource persons without teaching skills may not present key learning points required in the topic while some resource persons may present a dark view of their profession
