The choice that best describes how European powers responded to the Islamic expansion is:

(C) Europeans viewed the spread of Islam as a threat and actively worked to stop it.

Further explanation

The reaction of Europeans to the expansion of Islam began only very late, in 1096, more than 400 years after the creation of this empire. In the early centuries, European resistance was only defensive, trying to stop the Arab invasions in the south of the continent, mainly in Spain and in Italy.

In the East, Christians were accepted by Muslims as long as they paid the tax imposed on them by these conquerors and could continue to practice their religion. However, in 1071, Turkish Muslims invaded Jerusalem. They forbade the pilgrimage of Christians and mistreated them. To liberate these populations from the east, Pope Urban II called the Westerners to go fight. These attacks of Christians against Muslims in the East are called Crusades.

There were six great crusades between the eleventh and the thirteenth century:

 • First crusade: from 1096 to 1099.
 • Second crusade: from 1147 to 1149.
 • Third crusade: from 1189 to 1192.
 • Fourth Crusade: from 1202 to 1204.
 • Fifth crusade: from 1217 to 1221.
 • Sixth Crusade: from 1228 to 1229.

Other smaller expeditions took place throughout the 13th century but were not very successful. Overall, the Crusades did not allow Christians to regain control of the East except in a few small territories.

What factors led to the feeling of upheaval in the u.s in the years following world war 1
shtirl [24]

Answer: Economic reasons.

Explanation:

It was not until 1917 that the United States entered the war. During the war, the United States provided loans to the Entente forces for military, medical, and food supplies. These loans were primarily the burden of the French and the United Kingdom. In this way, the US has profited from these loans.

The problem was that the Entente could lose the war. In these circumstances, the indebted countries would not be able to repay the loan to America. Because of this fact, the United States decides to engage in war to help the anthem win and to secure its economic benefit by borrowing.
