A plant breeder found a species of flowering plant with very attractive flowers growing wild in a field and she thought it would

appeal to her customers. Some of the plants of this species had red flowers, some white flowers, and some pink flowers. While she would like to be able to offer her customers all three colors of flowers, she only has permission from the landowner to dig up one plant to bring back to the nursery as breeding stock. Select the correct answer. Which statement correctly explains the polarity of the water molecule? A. The hydrogen end of the mol
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

option B) The oxygen end of the molecule has a partial negative charge and the hydrogen end has a partial positive charge.

Justification:

The electronegativity of an element accounts for its relative ability to attract electrons.

Being oxygen more electronegative than hdyrogen (the electronegativity of oxygen is 3.44 while the electronegativity of the hydrogen is 2.20), the electron density will be displaced toward the oxygen, letting it with a partial negative charge and the hydrogen with a partial positive charge.

Finally, since the charge is not symmetrical distributed around a center of the molecule, the molecule ends being polar.

Red-green color blindness is an X-linked recessive disorder that is passed through generations and can be traced by using a pedi
Nostrana [21]

Answer:

Lisa and Monica

Explanation:

The correct answer would be Lisa and Monica.

For X-linked recessive disorders, a female can be unaffected, a carrier, or affected. However, a male can either be affected or unaffected and never a carrier. This is because females have two X chromosomes while males have only one.

In addition, completely filled-in shapes in a pedigree mean that such individuals are affected for the trait in question while half-filled shapes mean the individuals are carriers for the trait.

Hence, individuals in the pedigree that are labeled carriers for red-green color blindness are Lisa and Monica (they both have half-filled shapes).
