<u>PYROCLASTIC MATERIAL </u>

The common pyroclastic materials are Lapilli, Ash and lava blocks.

  1. Pumice: It is an igneous rock which is light in color and it blows into the air in a semi-liquid state.  
  2. Lapilli: These volcanic rocks are pea to walnut-sized pieces. Cinder cones, composite volcanoes, and shield volcanoes produce lapilli.
  3. Lava bombs: These are volcanic rocks that are larger than 64mm in size. It leaves a volcano vent as semi-molten fragments of rocks.
  4. Lava blocks: These are pieces of rock which are larger in size and they blow out of a volcano. They are solid and have angular shapes.
