Answer:

False

Explanation:

Sympatric speciation is a process of formation of new species by reproductive isolation alone. Two populations of same species present in the same habitat develop pre or post-zygotic strategies of reproductive isolation which in turn prevents interbreeding between them.

Since these two populations are present in the same habitat, there is no geographical or physical barrier between them to prevent gene flow. Reproductive isolation prevents gene flow between them. Gradually, these two populations evolve into two separate species.

Answer;

The above statement is False

Explanation;

 • Speciation is an evolutionary process in which new species arise. There are three types of speciation, namely; sympatric, parapatric and allopatric speciation.
 • Sympatric speciation is a pattern in which speciation occurs in the absence of a physical barrier to gene flow; ex. polyploidy arising in flowers.
 • In an Allopatric speciation on the other hand, a physical barrier arises and separates two populations, ending gene flow between them and allowing reproductive isolating mechanisms to evolve so that later if the two groups come back into contact they will no longer be able to reproduce together, therefore making them different species.

How can genetic variations benefit a species? Give an example
hram777 [196]

Answer:

Genetic variations can benefit a species physicaly and mechanicaly. For example, if a human is born with flipper shaped feet, they can benefit in swimming and water related sports because they have flipper like feet. enabling them to move in water at faster more energy efficent speeds.

Explanation:

Genetic variation is the difference in DNA among individuals or the differences between populations. There are multiple sources of genetic variation, including mutation and genetic recombination. For example (part of answer) if a human is born with flipper shaped feet, they can benefit in swimming and water related sports because they have flipper like feet.

based on the living things in the pyramid, tell me what examples would fit into these categories: primary producers, primary con
algol [13]

Answer:

- Oak trees: primary producers

- Caterpillars: primary consumers

- Blue Jays: secondary consumers

- Hawks: tertiary consumers

Explanation:

A trophic pyramid, also known as ecological pyramid or energy pyramid, is a graphic representation that shows the relationships between different types of organisms (i.e., producers and consumers) at the trophic levels of an ecosystem. The primary producers are autotrophic organisms that obtain energy from sunlight and chemical compounds from nonliving sources (e.g., photosynthetic plants, algae, etc). The primary consumers are organisms that eat primary producers (e.g., herbivores), while secondary consumers are organisms that eat primary consumers (e.g., omnivores). Moreover, tertiary consumers are predators and/or omnivores that eat secondary consumers (e.g., hawks). Finally, decomposers (e.g., bacteria) are organisms that obtain nutrients and energy by breaking down dead organic material (i.e., dead organisms) at all trophic levels into nutrients.
