I actually posted this a while ago and it got answerd by a smart person so here's what I understood
the error is that it assumes that √(x²)=x
because if x is negative, it becomes positive
that's how the 2nd line is wrong
the 2nd line is the first wrong step
it goes from 4-9/2+9/2
so it goes from 4-4.5+4.5
notice the part under the parenthsees
√((4-4.5)²)
if we evaluate 4-4.5, we get -0.5
but by squaring it we get 0.5
-0.5+4.5=4, yes
but when we square it we get
0.5+4.5=5, that is how it works
To solve an algebraic equation, we need to get x by itself. We can start to do that by multiplying each side of the equation by 62 (to remove the denominator of x).
x + 89(62) = 92 * 62
Simplify
x = 92 * 62 - 89 * 62
Now we can factor out 62
x = 62 (92 - 89)
Now we can simplify the parenthesis
x = 62 * 3
x = 186
Answer:
A
Step-by-step explanation:
For point-slope form, you need a point and the slope.
y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)
Looking at the graph, the points you have are (4, 0) and (-4, -4). You can use these points to find the slope. Divide the difference of the y's by the difference of the x's/
-4 - 0 = -4
-4 - 4 = -8
-4/-8 = 1/2
The slope is 1/2. This cancels out choices C and D.
With the point (-4, -4), A is the answer.
Answer for your question:
520 miles $370 - $240 = $130(you have this much to spend) $0.25 × 520 = $130
<u>Heres an example!</u>
There is a fixed cost and a variable cost (depends on the number of miles driven).
Note that the fixed cost is $180.
The variable cost is ($0.15/mile)*(number of miles). [miles cancel out, leaving only $]
Total cost = fixed cost + variable cost
Total cost = $180 + $0.15x [where x is the number of miles driven]
So, if the total cost is $285,
$285 = $180 + $0.15x
$105 = $0.15x [subtract $180 from both sides]
700 = x [divide both sides by $0.15]
