Answer: It would affect the lacrimal apparatus, the system in charge of the production of tears and their drainage system.

Explanation:

If a blockage where to happen at the  lacrimal punctum, or if it is narrowed, the tears would not be able follow their normal path, which is to move into the lacrimal sac, to be drained into the nasolacrimal duct afterwards, so the tears would overflow from the eye onto the face.

Tears cannot drain normally, causing a watery, irritated or chronically infected eye. Lacrimal secretion (tears) drain through the puncta in the corners of your upper and lower eyelids. The tears then travel through the small canals in the lids (canaliculi) to a lacrimal sac (where the lids are attached to the side of the nose), then down a duct (the nasolacrimal duct) before emptying into your nose.

In which type of human cell(s) would 46 chromosomes be located? Select all that apply.A. diploidB. eggC. somaticD. gameteE. sper
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

A. diploid and C. somatic

Explanation:

Humans are diploid organisms and have 23 pair of chromosomes i.e. in total humans have 46 chromosomes.

There are 2 types of cells in humans (1) somatic cells and (2) germ cells.

Somatic cells are normal body cells which are diploid and have all 23 pairs of chromosomes. But, germ cells are special type of cells which are produced by gonads (sex organs). Germ cells are also known as gametes. In females, ovary is the sex organ which produces germ cells named as egg cells while in males testes is the sex organ which produces germ cells named as sperms. Germ cells (egg and sperm) are haploid cells which fuse to form a zygote which is the first cell of next generation. The process of fusion of egg and sperm is known as fertilization which is responsible for restoring diploidy in the progeny which receives half the genetic material from female parent and half the genetic material from male parent.

Which of the following is not a characteristic of cancer cells?
julia-pushkina [17]

Answer:

B. They have a single small nucleus.

Explanation:

The presence of large nucleus is a characteristic feature of cells that frequently undergo cell division. Cancer cells are characterized by uncontrolled continuous cell division even when the new cells are not required by the body.

This leads to the formation of benign or metastatic tumors. To undergo continuous cell division, the cancer cells have a large nucleus. The nucleus of the cancer cells is mostly hyperchromatic and distinct due to higher nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio. It allows these cells to exhibit the uncontrolled cell division.
