---------------------------------
Define x and y :
---------------------------------
Let x be the number of large boxes.
Let y be the number of smaller boxes.

---------------------------------
Construct equations :
---------------------------------
x + y = 125 -------------------------- (1)
50x  + 30y = 4850 ---------------- (2)

---------------------------------
From equation (1) :
---------------------------------
x + y = 125
x = 125 - y

---------------------------------
Substitute x = 125 - y into (2) :
---------------------------------
50 (125 - y) + 30y = 4850
6250 - 50y + 30y = 4850
20y = 1400
y = 1400 ÷ 20
y = 70

---------------------------------
Sub y = 70 into equation 1
---------------------------------
x + y = 125
x + 70 = 125
x = 55

---------------------------------
Find the number of boxes :
---------------------------------
Large box = x = 55
Small box = y = 70

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer: There are 55 large boxes and 70 small boxes.

Let L and S represent the numbers of Large and Small boxes, respectively.
.. L + S = 125 . . . . . . . . . . there are 125 boxes in all
.. 50L + 30S = 4850 . . . . . total weight of all boxes is 4850 pounds

You can multiply the first equation by -30 and add that to the second.
.. -30L -30S = -3750
Adding this to the second equation, we get
.. (-30L +50L) +(-30S +30S) = (-3750 +4850)
.. 20L = 1100
.. L = 55

and from the first equation ...
.. 55 + S = 125
.. S = 70

The truck is carrying
.. 55 large boxes
.. 70 small boxes

Subtraction and addition are basically the same thing. You just need to pay attention to the sign of the number.

split it up to that

2y²+3y+6y+9=0
group
(2y²+3y)+(6y+9)=0
factor
y(2y+3)+3(2y+3)=0
undistribute
(y+3)(2y+3)=0
set to zero

y+3=0
y=-3

2y+3=0
2y=-3
y=-3/2

y=-3 and -3/2

Solve the equation for exact solutions over the interval [0, 2π).
quester [9]

Answer:

\displaystyle x=\left\{0, \frac{2\pi}{3}, \frac{4\pi}{3}\right\}

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to solve the equation:

-2\cos^2(x)=-\cos(x)-1

Over the interval [0, 2π).

First, notice that this is in quadratic form. So, to make things simpler, we can let <em>u</em> = cos(x). Substitute:

-2u^2=-u-1

Rearrange:

2u^2-u-1=0

Factor:

(2u+1)(u-1)=0

Zero Product Property:

2u+1=0\text{ or } u-1=0

Solve for each case:

\displaystyle u=-\frac{1}{2}\text{ or } u=1

Back-substitute:

\displaystyle \cos(x)=-\frac{1}{2}\text{ or } \cos(x)=1

Using the unit circle:

\displaystyle x=\left\{0, \frac{2\pi}{3}, \frac{4\pi}{3}\right\}

The probability that event A occurs is 57 and the probability that event B occurs is 23 . If A and B are independent events, wha
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

<h2>\frac{1}{1311}</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability of occurring the event A is \frac{1}{57}.

The probability to occur the event B is \frac{1}{23}.

It is also given that the events are independent that is they do not depends on each other.

So, the probability of occurring both the events simultaneously can be get by simply multiplying the probabilities of both the events.

Hence, the probability is \frac{1}{[tex]57times23}[/tex] = \frac{1}{1311}.
