Which of the following best explains how hydrogen bonding aftects the heat of vaporization for water?

Biology

Answer: A. The hydrogen bonds cause water to resist a change in temperature.

Explanation:

Heat of vaporization is defined as the amount of heat required to convert 1 mole of liquid to gaseous state.

Water has high heat of vaporization due to the presence of strong hydrogen bonds between hydrogen and a electronegative element oxygen. As the water molecules are strongly bonded to each other, large amount of heat is required to raise the temperature of water.

The molecules will not be able to gain enough kinetic energy and thus temperature changes slowly.

what does the term 2pq represent in the hardy-weinberg equation? the frequency of homozygous recessive individuals the frequency
Nostrana [21]

The term 2pq represented in the hardy-weinberg equation is the frequency of heterozygotes and is denoted as option D.

What is Hardy-weinberg equation?

This mathematical equation is used to calculate the genetic variation of a population at equilibrium and can be seen below:

p² + 2pq + q² = 1

where

p² is dominant homozygous frequency (AA)

2pq is heterozygous frequency (Aa)

q² is recessive homozygous frequency (aa).

The 2pq can be seen as the heterozygous frequency which is therefore the reason why option D which is frequency of heterozygotes was chosen as the most appropriate choice.

The existence of brain areas like wernicke's and broca's areas support which linguist's beliefs about language development?
mel-nik [20]

The existence of brain areas like Wernicke's and Broca's areas support Noam Chomsky's beliefs about language development.

Noam Chomsky is well known for his work on linguistics, especially, the evolution of transformational grammar. He presumed that formal grammar was directly accountable for an individual's capacity to comprehend and interpret basic pronouncements.

The Wernicke's Area is the region of the brain critical to language development. It is situated in the temporal lobe on the left hemisphere of the brain. Its functions involve language comprehension, semantic or grammar processing, language identification as well as language interpretation.

The Broca's area helps create speech sounds, whereas, the Wernicke's area contributes to comprehension of language.

ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

Rigor mortis first appears approximately 1-2 hours after death. Progressive stiffening occurs for approximately 12 hours, persists for approximately 12 hours, then diminishes over the next 12 hours as tissues break down as a result of autolysis and putrefaction.

Question: Give an example of how energy flows.
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

Energy flow is the amount of energy that moves through a food chain.

An example

of energy flow in an ecosystem would begin with the autotrophs that take energy from the sun. Herbivores then feed on the autotrophs and change the energy from the plant into energy that they can use.
