The novel Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, conveys some ideas that were particularly relevant during the Industrial Revolution. These are expressed in various aspects of the work, including its setting, plot and characterization.

In terms of setting, the novel emphasizes grand and intense natural settings. Lakes, mountains and forests are very prominent in the novel, and play an important role in the development of the characters. The setting relates to the Industrial Revolution because it reflects a feeling that many people had at the time: that of escaping the busy cities and reconnecting with nature.

In terms of plot, the novel provides a critique of the Industrial Revolution through the character of Victor Frankenstein. The scientist is guided by an arrogance that comes from being able to master science and technology. Such arrogance leads him to create a monster that he cannot control later on. This arrogance was similar to that of inventors and entrepreneurs of this time period.

Finally, the characterization reflects some of these elements as well. Victor has already been mentioned as an example. However, the creature can also be considered an example of this, as the alienation and identity confusion the creature feels is similar to that which was felt by many workers during this period.

Read the following scene, and view the image that accompanies it.
vladimir2022 [97]

The major difference between the text and the image is that the text focuses on characters, while the image focuses on the setting.

Explanation:

The text attempts to show some of the characters that are present in the plot. The crew, as explained in the text, seem to be sulking due to their failed attempt at catching fishes on that particular day.

Furthermore, their captain yet reminds them that they shall be getting their share of the money based on the number of fishes they catch.

These particulars depict the characters that are present in the plot and their state of mind at that time.

Contrary to that, the image that is shown is that of a ship caught up in a mighty storm, showing the setting of the ship, and not the of the character's that are present in the ship

Hence this is the difference between the text and the image.
