Act One of Romeo and Juliet begins with an example of the bitter conflict between the Capulets and the Montagues. We have already learned from the Chorus that the feud between the two families has divided the city of Verona for many years, and we see this play out in the first scene. There are a few central conflicts in the play Romeo and Juliet. A major conflict throughout the whole play is the fighting between the Montagues and the Capulets. They are in a bitter feud, and everyone in Verona, Italy is affected by their hate for each other.
Tybalt is out and determined to challenge Romeo to a duel. He thinks Romeo has insulted and mocked his family by disguising himself to gatecrash their ball.
