So the model has 3 x's and 8 ones on one sides and 4x's and 6 1's on the other

We can create this equation:

3x+8 = 4x+ 6

Now subtract 8 to the other side and subtract 4x to the other side because you want the x's on one side and the constant on the other

-x = -2

Now don't forget to divide by the negative because you do want only the x alone

Your answer is x = 2 which is C!
