Read each sentence, and determine whether it contains parallel structures.
OLEGan [10]

The first and the third sentences contain parallel structures. Parallel structure, or parallelism, is the repetition of the same grammatical structure or form within a sentence, so it becomes more balanced, and, therefore, more readable and clear to understand.

In the first sentence, the parallel structure has been used in the comparison: "... would make war rather than let the nation survive and accept war rather than let it perish..."

In the third sentence the same grammatical form has been used too: "all dreaded it (1) all sought to avert it (2)."

Explain how the authors perspective on her mormon faith changes.
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

Her perspective changed when she realized that too many lives have been lost while she quietly observes, in accordance to her Mormon belief of not questioning things and keeping quiet about it.

Explanation:

In her account of her family's Mormon beliefs and fights against the hereditary cancer that seemed to take a toll on them, Terry Tempest Williams wrote about how she had quietly observed the pain and struggle according to her Mormon belief. She wrote The Clan of One-Breasted Women to reveal how this blind faith has led to the quiet observance of the deaths and sufferings of the women in her life.

She admits that though her family/ community's belief made everything seem fine. She remembers being taught that "authority is respected, obedience is revered, and independent thinking is not." She was also warned as a small girl not to "make waves" or "rock the boat", which she had been doing until the cancer cases became more than she can simply let go. She came to realize how much damage has been done while she plays the silent spectator. She decides that her beliefs may not be the main cause of the deaths of the many beautiful people in her life. But being silent even after all the loss in her life is not something that she can endure anymore. This realization brought a change in her perspective on her Mormon faith.
