Answer:

Distance between boat and light house = 134 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

Height of light house = 46 m

Angle of elevation from boat to the top of light house = 19°

From the data given to us we can construct a right triangle ABC.

For the Δ ABC

AB= 46 m

∠C= 19°

We can apply trigonometric ratio to find side BC which is the distance of light house from the boat.

\tan19\°=\frac{AB}{BC}

Multiplying both sides by BC.

BC\tan19\°=\frac{AB}{BC}\times BC

BC\tan19\°=AB

Dividing both sides by tan 19°

\frac{BC\tan19\°}{tan 19\°}=\frac{AB}{tan 19\°}

BC=\frac{AB}{tan 19\°}

Substituting value of AB and tan 19°

BC=\frac{46}{0.344}

BC=133.59\ m\approx134\ m

Distance between boat and light house = 134 m

Prove whether the following are identities 2tanh 1/2x / 1−tanh^2 1/2 x = sinh x
Tanzania [10]

Recall that

\cosh^2(x) - \sinh^2(x) = 1

Dividing both sides by cosh²(x) gives

1 - \tanh^2(x) = \mathrm{sech}^2(x)

Also, recall the identity

\sinh(2x) = 2\sinh(x)\cosh(x)

Then

\dfrac{2\tanh\left(\frac x2\right)}{1 - \tanh^2\left(\frac x2\right)} = \dfrac{2\tanh\left(\frac x2\right)}{\mathrm{sech}^2\left(\frac x2\right)} \\\\ \dfrac{2\tanh\left(\frac x2\right)}{1 - \tanh^2\left(\frac x2\right)} = 2\tanh\left(\dfrac x2\right)\cosh^2\left(\dfrac x2\right) \\\\ \dfrac{2\tanh\left(\frac x2\right)}{1 - \tanh^2\left(\frac x2\right)} = 2\sinh\left(\dfrac x2\right)\cosh\left(\dfrac x2\right) \\\\\dfrac{2\tanh\left(\frac x2\right)}{1 - \tanh^2\left(\frac x2\right)} = \sinh(x)

Jason leaves Detroit at 2:00 PM and drives at a constant speed west along I-96. He passes Ann Arbor, 40 mi from Detroit, at 2:50
Vladimir [108]

Answer:

d = 48t will represent the distance 'd' traveled in 't' hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Jason leaves Detroit at 2:00 PM and passes through Ann Arbor at 2:50 PM which is 40 mi distant from Detroit.

Speed during this journey was constant.

Jason traveled 40 mi in 50 minutes or \frac{5}{6} hours from Detroit to Ann Arbor.

By the formula,

Speed = \frac{\text{Distance traveled }}{\text{Time taken to travel this distance}}

Speed = \frac{40}{\frac{5}{6}}

           = 48 mi per hour

If he travels 'd' miles in 't' hours then by the formula of speed,

48 = \frac{d}{t}

d = 48t
