When we factorise an expression, we are looking for simple factors that multiply to get the original expression. Usually it is very natural to factorise something like a quadratic in x. For example:

x^2 + 3x + 2 = (x+1)(x+2)

But there are other situations where factorisation can be applied. Take this quadratic:

x^2 - 9x = x(x-9)

This second example is closer to the question in hand. Just like x was a common factor to both x^2 and -9x, we are looking for a common factor to both 6b and 24bc. The common factor is 6b.

Hence 6b + 24bc = 6b(1 + 4c).

I hope this helps you :)

A cable television company had 8500 subscribers in a suburban community. The company offers two premium channels, A and
ASHA 777 [7]
This is a problem on  a venn diagram in which the problem determines the number of subscribers that are mutually heeding for channel A and channel B. The equation to be followed is

U = U' + A + B + AandB
Substituting,
8500 = 5140 + 2450+1980- AandB
AandB = 1070 subscribers

2. A set of data consists of the number of years that applicants for foreign service
Bad White [126]

Answer:

Kindly check explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the regression equation :

y = 31.6 + 10.9x

x = the number of years of study ;

y = the grade on the test.

The predicted is y which is also the same as the response variable, hence, the response variable is grade on the test

The predictor variable is x, which is the independent variable, which is the number of years of study.

From. The regression output given ;

The slope which is the Coefficient of the predictor variable is 10.9 which means that for every unit change in number of years of study, the grade on test increases by 10.9

The intercept which is the constant value, 31.6, means, the least a person can get in the get in grade is 31.6 (at x = 0)

What is the inverse function of f(x)= 4- x/6
Westkost [7]

Answer:

f^{-1}(x) = 6(4-x) = 24-6x

Step-by-step explanation:

Let y=f(x) and swap x and y:

x = 4 - \frac{y}{6}

Then, rearranging for y:

x+\frac{y}{6} = 4

\frac{y}{6}= 4-x

y= 6(4-x) = 24-6x
