Hi, SummerizMyName14! :)

Solve for m.
2/7m-1/7=3/14
Find the LCM (Lowest Common Denominator)

You can find this by listing the multiples of the denominators:
7=7,14,21,28
7=7,14,21,28
14=14,28,42

14 is the LCM.

14*1=14
7*2=14
7*2=14

2(2/7)m-2(1/7)=1(3/14)
Distribute the Brackets/Parenthesis.
4/14m- 2/14=3/14
Add to 2/14 to both sides.
(4/14m-2/14)+2/14=(3/14)+2/14
Simplify the equation.
4/14m=5/14
Divide both sides by 4/14.
(4/14m)/ 4/14=(5/14)/ 4/14
Simplify the equation.
m=(5/14)/ 4/14
m=(5/14)*14/4
m=70/56
or
m=5/4

Hope this helps.

Solution for \frac{2}{7}m - \frac{1}{7} = \frac{3}{14} \ is \ m = \frac{5}{4} \ or \ m = 1\frac{1}{4} \ or \ m = 1.25

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

It is a case about one variable linear quations and we have to solve the equation to get the variable m. There are two ways to solve it!

Our main plan is to isolate the variable m alone at the end of the process on one side of the equation until the variable will be equal to the value on the opposite side.

<u>First way</u>

\frac{2}{7}m - \frac{1}{7} = \frac{3}{14}

Let us add \frac{1}{7} to both sides

\frac{2}{7}m - \frac{1}{7} + \frac{1}{7} = \frac{3}{14} + \frac{1}{7}

\frac{2}{7}m = \frac{3}{14} + \frac{1}{7}

On the right side for the addition operation, we equate the common denominator by multiplying \ \frac{1}{7} \ by \ \frac{2}{2}

\frac{2}{7}m = \frac{3}{14} + \frac{2}{14}

Then we combine terms to get

\frac{2}{7}m = \frac{5}{14}

Divide by the coefficient of m, or in other words, multiply both sides by \frac{7}{2}

\frac{2}{7}m \times \frac{7}{2} = \frac{5}{14} \times \frac{7}{2}

Finally, the solution is obtained as follows

m = \frac{35}{28}

Simplify fractions, both the numerator and denominator are divided equally by 7.

\boxed{ \ m = \frac{5}{4} \ }

Convert into mixed fractions, we get:

\boxed{ \ m = 1 \frac{1}{4} \ }

In decimal form, we get

m = 1 \frac{25}{100} \rightarrow \boxed{ \ m = 1.25 \ }

<u>Second way (a quick way)</u>

\frac{2}{7}m - \frac{1}{7} = \frac{3}{14}

Because the denominators 7 and 14 have LCM = 14, both sides are multiplied by 14 (LCM is the Least Common Multiple)

14 \times \big( \frac{2}{7}m - \frac{1}{7} \big) = 14\times \big( \frac{3}{14} \big)

We use the distributive property of multiplication on the left side

\frac{28}{7}m - \frac{14}{7} = \frac{42}{14}

or it can also directly lead to

4m - 2 = 3

Add 2 to both sides, we get

4m = 5

Divide by the coefficient of m, or in other words, both sides are divided by 4

\boxed{ \ m = \frac{5}{4} \ }

Or, \boxed{ \ m = 1 \frac{1}{4} \ }

Or, m = 1 \frac{25}{100} \rightarrow \boxed{ \ m = 1.25 \ }

Wanna check the solution into the equation?

\big( \frac{2}{7} \times \frac{5}{4} \big) - \frac{1}{7} = \frac{3}{14}

\frac{10}{28} - \frac{1}{7} = \frac{3}{14}

\frac{5}{14} - \frac{2}{14} = \frac{3}{14}

\frac{3}{14} = \frac{3}{14}

Both sides show the same value, so the solution is correct.

Note:

Remember, how to manipulate both sides of the equation with the algebraic properties of equality such as:

  • adding,
  • subtracting,
  • multiplying, and/or
  • dividing both sides of the equation with the same number.

In the form of fractions, the steps that must be considered are

  • equate the denominator,
  • simplify fractions, and
  • for the final answer, convert fractions to mixed fractions or decimal forms

All these processes can occur repeatedly until the isolated variables are obtained on one side of the equation.

What is 6 divided by a number that will give you 12
AURORKA [14]

  ▶︎◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◀︎

Hello There!

We need to find what number, if 6 is divided by it, gives us 12.

This isn't hard, I promise! I am going to take you through a few steps, and we'll find the answer.

Are you ready? Then let's begin...:)

Procedure:

  ✦ We can think about it as: 6 divided by what number gives us 12?

(let the number be z)

^6/_z=12

Multiply both sides by z

6=12z

Divide both sides by z

z=^6/_{12}

Which is the same as

z=^1/_2

  • hope it's helpful!
  • wishing you a great day!

Greetings!

How do I solve 34-5x+2(x-2)=15
LenKa [72]
34-5x+2(x-2)=15      1st get rid of () by distributing the 2.
34-5x+2x-4=15         Now collect like terms.
30-3x=15                  Get -3x by itself by subtracting 30 in both sides.
-3x=-15                     You want X by itself so divide by -3 on both sides.
x=5

To rent a uhal truck for the day, it cost 20 dollars per day plus 1 dollar for every mile driven Write an algebraic expression t
valkas [14]

Answer:

The equation is R = 20d + m(1)

Where R is the rental amount in dollars, d is the number of days and m is the number of miles driven

R for 3 days and 1000 miles is $1,060

Step-by-step explanation:

To properly represent the algebraic expression, we need to assign some variables.

Now, let the rental amount be R, the number of miles driven be m and the number of days rented for is d

Thus, we can say that:

R = 20d+ m(1)

Where R is rental amount, m is the number of miles driven and d is the number of days for which the truck was driven.

Now we are asked to calculate rental amount for 3 days and 1000 miles.

R = 20d + m(1)

R = 20(3) + 1000(1)

R = 60 + 1000

R = $1,060
