(Not my work) Answer: Progressive America was a turbulent world in which greed and corruption ruled. In this context many middle-class reformers came together to make the US a better place. While many historians would argue that the Progressive Movement was highly successful in combating the injustices of their time, the evidence will demonstrate that they fell short of meeting their own reform goals.

Does George Washington's account contradict or support the account in the newspaper? Give two examples to support your response
vladimir1956 [14]
Among George Washington's critics are those who wonder how the nation might have developed had he sided with Jefferson in the partisan debates that swirled all around him as President. By identifying himself with Hamilton, he actually furthered the partisanship he so vigorously denounced in his farewell speech to the nation. In the eyes of those historians who doubt his greatness, this is Washington's most significant failure as President.

What happened to the continent of Africa as a result of the berlin conference
dedylja [7]
The main was the Berlin Conference affected Africa was by chopping it all up into areas that would be colonized by several European countries. Before the Conference, Africans did have most of Africa still in their hands. During the conference, the European countries divided up essentially almost all of Africa. That means European countries would get to own parts of Africa.

This added fate to the African continent.

This affected colonization in 2 BIG ways:
-colonial governments and economies were made/set up to help the Europeans, NOT the Africans. They did not really educate Africans, either.

-Another way was the European governments easily divided Africa up however they wanted and needed. (not even taking the human geography of Africa under consideration) They separated people of 1 ethnic group into different countries. Once these countries became independent, they obviously ended up having ethnic conflicts, which further weakened them.

Overall, the main affect of the Berlin Conference was to colonize Africa, which lead to MANY of the problems that the continent still endures to this day.

Hope I helped :)

Why might the Platt Amendment be considered ironic?
Rasek [7]
In 1901 the Platt Amendment was attached to an act of Congress. Many Cubans resented the Platt Amendment because they hoped that the Spanish-American war, which had its roots in their struggle for independence from Spain, would result in Cuba's becoming a fully sovereign nation.
