If sec(theta) =25/24, find cot(theta) (Picture provided)
larisa [96]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

By the definition,

\sec \theta=\dfrac{\text{hypotenuse}}{\text{adjacent leg}}.

If \sec \theta=\dfrac{25}{24}, we can consider right triangle with hypotenuse 25 un. and adjacent leg 24 un. By the Pythagorean theorem,

\text{hypotenuse}^2=\text{adjacent leg}^2+\text{opposite leg}^2,\\ \\\text{opposite leg}^2=25^2-24^2,\\ \\\text{opposite leg}^2=625-576,\\ \\\text{opposite leg}^2=49,\\ \\\text{opposite leg}=7\ un.

So,

\cot \theta=\dfrac{\text{adjacent leg}}{\text{opposite leg}}=\dfrac{24}{7}.

#1 Find the slope given the points (3,-20) and (5,8) *
Artyom0805 [142]

Hey there :)

To find the slope with <em>two points</em> we will need to use the equation  \frac{y^2-y^1}{x^2-x^1}

x^1    x^2       y^1  y^2

( 3 , -20 )  ( 5 , 8 )

Here is what the equation should look like when replaced with the numbers (<em>it will be a fraction</em>) :

                                     \frac{8 - (-20)}{5 - 3}

We know that <em>two negatives</em> cancel out and make a positive, so the numerator would actually be 8 + 20.

Solve the fraction and we get   \frac{28}{2}

28 <em>divided</em> by 2 is 14. The slope is 14.

Can someone please help
jekas [21]

For slope, people sometimes use the description 'rise divided by run'. We know that the y axis describes rise, and the x axis describes run. So rise divided by run written numerically is \frac{y}{x}. Now let's look at the line above. We can see that every time the y value goes up one unit, the x value goes right two units. This means that [tex]\frac{y}{x} --> \frac{y + 1}{x + 2}

This can be rewritten as 1/2, so the is 1/2. Hope this helped.

Use the diagram below to answer questions 2-3. what is the value of a
Georgia [21]

We have been given a diagram and we need to find the value of arc angle a.

According to one of the circle theorems the angle at the centre of a circle is twice the angle at  the circumference subtended by the same arc.

Therefore, arc angle a will be twice of the angle at circumference, that is, 34 degrees.

Therefore, value of angle a is:

a^{0}=2*34=68^{0}
