Adam has created a register for the bank account he opened on April 16th. Unfortunately, Adam has made a mistake and cannot figu

re out where he went wrong. Use the transaction descriptions below to determine where his error is.
The account was opened on April 16 with a tax refund check of $145.00.
Paid SellUPhone $65.34 on April 18. (Check 794)
Deposited a paycheck on April 23. ($9.76/hour for 35 hours)
Bought $61.32 (4% sales tax not included) in clothes from BargainsRUs on April 24 using a debit card.
Number Date Transaction Description Payment, Fee, Withdrawal (–) Deposit, Credit (+) Balance $
4/16 Open Account $145.00
794 4/18 SellUPhone 65.34 $79.66
4/23 Deposit 338.45 $418.11
4/24 BargainsRUs 63.77 $354.34

He completely forgot to include the clothes he bought from BargainsRUS.

He made an arithmetic error in the balance column.

He recorded one of his withdrawals in the deposit column.

He recorded his paycheck amount for April 23th incorrectly.

Answer:

<u>D. He recorded his paycheck amount for April 23rd incorrectly. Yes, this was Adam's mistake. The correct amount should be 341.60 and not 338.45.</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Let's review the information given to us to help Adam to determine where his error is.

A. He completely forgot to include the clothes he bought from Bargains RUS. No, he didn't. It was recorded properly,  including the sales tax amount.

B. He made an arithmetic error in the balance column. No he didn't, the balance was calculated correctly after each transaction.

C. He recorded one of his withdrawals in the deposit column. No, he didn't. All of the withdrawals are in the right column.

<u>D. He recorded his paycheck amount for April 23rd incorrectly. Yes, this was Adam's mistake. The correct amount should be 341.60 and not 338.45.</u>

-3k-21-5k+4=23
Get rid of the numbers that aren't being multiplied by k:
-3k-5k=23+21-4
Add like things:
-8k=40
Divide by -8 on both sides to get k by itself and to make the equation even:
k=-5

Given the following hypotheses: H0: μ = 490 H1: μ ≠ 490 A random sample of 15 observations is selected from a normal population.
Elenna [48]

Answer:

We conclude that the population mean is equal to 490.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that a random sample of 15 observations is selected from a normal population. The sample mean was 495 and the sample standard deviation 9.

Let \mu = <u><em>population mean</em></u>.

So, Null Hypothesis, H_0 : \mu = 490      {means that the population mean is equal to 490}

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : \mu\neq 490     {means that the population mean is different from 490}

The test statistics that will be used here is <u>One-sample t-test statistics</u> because we don't know about population standard deviation;

                               T.S.  =  \frac{\bar X-\mu}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n} } }  ~ t_1_4

where, \bar X = sample mean = 495

            s = sample standard deviation = 9

             n = sample of observations = 15

So, <em>the test statistics </em>=   \frac{495-490}{\frac{9}{\sqrt{15} } }  ~ t_1_4

                                     =  2.152

The value of t-test statistics is 2.152.

Now, at a 0.01 level of significance, the t table gives a critical value of -2.977 and 2.977 at 14 degrees of freedom for the two-tailed test.

Since the value of our test statistics lies within the range of critical values of t, so <u><em>we have insufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis</em></u> as the test statistics will not fall in the rejection region.

Therefore, we conclude that the population mean is equal to 490.
