20 quarts of peanut oil worth 19 cents per quart must be mixed.

<u><em>Explanation</em></u>

Lets assume, x quarts of peanut oil worth 19 cents per quart must be mixed.

Now we are mixing 100 quarts of another peanut oil worth 25 cents per quart with that x quarts. So, the total amount of the mixture =(x+100) quarts, which will worth 24 cents per quart.

Total price of x quarts oil = 19x cents

Total price of 100 quarts oil = (100*25)cents = 2500 cents

and total price of the mixture =24(x+100) cents

So the equation will be :

19x+2500 = 24(x+100)\\ \\ 19x+2500 = 24x +2400\\ \\ 19x-24x = 2400-2500\\ \\ -5x = -100\\ \\ x= \frac{-100}{-5}= 20

So, 20 quarts of peanut oil worth 19 cents per quart must be mixed.

An image formed by a circular spotlight has a radius of 124 centimeters. What is the area of the circular image? Use 3.14 for pi
Lemur [1.5K]

area = pi X radius squared

 so area = 3.14 x 124^2

= 3.14 x 15376 = 48,280.64 square centimeters.

A log raft is moving downstream at a speed of 3 km/h. To insure that there are no river jams a supervisor travels along the raft
skad [1K]

Answer:

2000 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

When the motorboat is moving downstream, its speed relative to the ground is 18 km/h, so its speed relative to the raft is 15 km/h.

When the motorboat is moving upstream, its speed relative to the ground is 12 km/h, so its speed relative to the raft is again 15 km/h.

Converted to m/min, the relative speed is:

15 km/h × (1000 m/km) × (1 h / 60 min) = 250 m/min

It takes the motorboat 16 minutes to travel to the front of the raft and back.  Since the speed is the same in both directions, the motorboat takes 8 minutes to travel the length of the raft.

So the length of the raft is 250×8 = 2000 meters.
