ANTONII [103]

Rainsford needs control of his emotions to overcome his largest conflict, General Zaroff. At first, when he finds out he is going to be hunted, his instinct is to run in a panic, but he stops to look around and get a handle on the situation. Then, when Zaroff finds him hiding in a tree, Rainsford panics again, knowing Zaroff is playing with him. Once more, he controls his emotions and focuses on forming a plan. Even when the general is hot on his heels with a pack of dogs, Rainsford keeps his calm. Clearly, his self-control helps him win the game.

Which revision would help expand the ideas in this passage?

adding a clear description of Rainsford’s overall conflict

adding details about how Rainsford panicked during each conflict

adding an explanation of how Rainsford kept his calm while being chased by dogs

Why do you think Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird uses Scout, a child narrator, rather than an adult? Consider th
Rudik [331]

Answer:

I do not have the novel on hand so you may need to find some examples of your own. However, Harper Lee uses Scout, a child, to narrate because it affects the atmosphere and perspective of the novel. Because the novel is through Scout's perspective, we never hear an opinion on race unless it is in quotation marks. We read the story from her young and not fully developed mind whereas if we read it through an adult mind, we might have heard opinions or had more answers.

Use the paragraph to answer the question
romanna [79]

Answer:

She is nervous.

Explanation:

We can infer that Luiza is nervous because the text states it in many ways. For instance, the text states, "She wiped a drip of sweat from her forehead." This shows that she is nervous because she started to sweat. Also, it says, "Her hand shook as she brought her bow to the  instrument's strings." This shows that she is nervous because her hand shook which means she shivered. Therefore, we can infer that Luiza is nervous.
