Idk if this will help but I put this....

Dear (my state senators),
My name is (my name) and today I come to you from a school assignment. I am asked about whether I agree or disagree on raising legal driving age. I personally disagree on this law for a variety of reasons. here are plenty of reasons that exist as to why teens should drive. From getting to work or school to transporting family members, your teen can use driving as a means to act in a responsible manner.
Lets begin with teenagers with jobs. A teenager finding and upholding a job is a crucial part of learning financial planning and responsibility. Unless they have a parent willing to chauffer him/her back and forth, driving is a necessity for a working teenager, but only if they understand it is a privilege with its own set of responsibilities. Pairing driving with work can make your child comprehend what its like growing up and becoming and adult, such as him/her contribute some money he/she earns to keep the car fueled.
Next we move to schooling. As your child moves onto high-school more responsibilities and activities come with it. Your teen might be in AP classes that start at 7:15am and you have to be at work at 6:30am. To go along with that they may also be in an after school activity, such as basketball. Late night practices and games, early weekend practices, just too much for you to keep track of on your own busy schedule. As long as your teen understands that his/her car privilege's during the academic day consists of going to and from school and his/her activities, driving themselves is a perfectly reasonable mode of transportation as long as you can get ahold of them to see where they are.
The responsibility of driving can also come with family agreements. As a busy parent with multiple children you might see yourself devoting all of your time to their activities, such as dance classes and piano lessons. If you have a teenager who is able to drive, it will lessen the stress of the parent, and give more responsibility to 'said teenager'. Giving teens extra responsibilities is a great way to test to see if they deserve the privilege of driving; if they can't help you, the parent, out a few times a week whether its driving someone else to their activities or even going to the grocery for some milk then they obviously can not handle the responsibility of driving.
Lastly, driving during the teenage years helps your child become more independent, According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, on their Healthy Children website. Along with independence comes more responsibilities and a more adult- like way of acting. Driving can be the chance your teenager gets to prove they are responsible and independent enough to have this opportunity. Additionally, driving safely, getting themselves to their activities/school/home on time and making sure the gas tank is full can help your teenager act in a more mature manner.
The counter argument for this may be about how teenagers are more devoted to their cellular devices. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Preventions' figures, which show that 16- to 19-year-olds are at the greatest risk for having a motor vehicle crash. I do agree with this statistic, although I see plenty of adults over the age of 35 using their cell phone when driving. I don't agree with raising the age to 18 because 'at that age teenagers are less focused on their phone and more about the real world' if adults still cause crashes due to the reasoning of why you want to raise the age in the first place.
In conclusion, the legal driving age for (my state) should be kept the same, the age of 16, because of the listed above reasons. Please do consider these.
Many thanks,
