Identify this functional group
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

Hydroxyl

Explanation:

Hydroxyl groups are simple structures consisting of an oxygen atom with two lone pairs bonded to a hydrogen atom.

A hydroxy or hydroxyl group is a functional group with the chemical formula -OH and composed of one oxygen atom covalently bonded to one hydrogen atom.

Using these given definitions, a hydrogen bond is labeled with one linkage, while a covalent bond is with two links to the Carbon Atom.

Even when asymptomatic, _______ can still be actively multiplying and killing cells in the immune system that help fight pathoge
podryga [215]

Even when asymptomatic, the virus can still be actively multiplying and killing cells in the immune system that help fight pathogens. This is further explained below.

What is a virus?

Generally, the virus is simply defined as a virus consisting of a core of genetic information, either DNA or RNA, wrapped by a capsid, which is a protective covering formed of protein.

In conclusion, It is possible for the virus to be actively reproducing and destroying immune cells even in the absence of any outward symptoms.

Jack was sick with a cold and fever. the doctor prescribed him erythromycin, an antibiotic. analyzing the process of translation
KatRina [158]

Answer:

This is because it is a selective antibiotic that, when entering the body, binds to the 50s subunit of bacterial ribosomes, thus causing the disruption of protein transcription of bacteria.

This drug does not stop the transcription of human proteins since bacteria and humans do not have the same ribosomes, therefore, humans or sick cells do not have the active site to which the drug binds.

Explanation:

This is because it is a selective antibiotic that, when entering the body, binds to the 50s subunit of bacterial ribosomes, thus causing the disruption of protein transcription of bacteria.

This drug does not stop the transcription of human proteins since bacteria and humans do not have the same ribosomes, therefore humans or host cells do not have the active site to which the drug binds.

Erythromycin falls into the macrolide family and is considered a drug that is bacteriostatic at low concentrations and bactericidal at very high concentrations.

The difference between these named terms is that one ends the life of the bacterium (bactericidal) and the other stops the bacterial metabolism preventing its possibility of increasing in number.

Deforestation is a source of anthropogenic, or human caused carbon dioxide emissions because cannot consume carbon dioxide molec
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

Carbon is the chemical backbone of life on Earth. Carbon compounds regulate the Earth’s temperature, make up the food that sustains us, and provide energy that fuels our global economy.

The carbon cycle.

Most of Earth’s carbon is stored in rocks and sediments. The rest is located in the ocean, atmosphere, and in living organisms. These are the reservoirs through which carbon cycles.

NOAA technicians service a buoy in the Pacific Ocean designed to provide real-time data for ocean, weather and climate prediction.

NOAA buoys measure carbon dioxide

NOAA observing buoys validate findings from NASA’s new satellite for measuring carbon dioxide

Listen to the podcast

Carbon storage and exchange

Carbon moves from one storage reservoir to another through a variety of mechanisms. For example, in the food chain, plants move carbon from the atmosphere into the biosphere through photosynthesis. They use energy from the sun to chemically combine carbon dioxide with hydrogen and oxygen from water to create sugar molecules. Animals that eat plants digest the sugar molecules to get energy for their bodies. Respiration, excretion, and decomposition release the carbon back into the atmosphere or soil, continuing the cycle.

The ocean plays a critical role in carbon storage, as it holds about 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere. Two-way carbon exchange can occur quickly between the ocean’s surface waters and the atmosphere, but carbon may be stored for centuries at the deepest ocean depths.

Rocks like limestone and fossil fuels like coal and oil are storage reservoirs that contain carbon from plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. When these organisms died, slow geologic processes trapped their carbon and transformed it into these natural resources. Processes such as erosion release this carbon back into the atmosphere very slowly, while volcanic activity can release it very quickly. Burning fossil fuels in cars or power plants is another way this carbon can be released into the atmospheric reservoir quickly.

Why is there so much variety of bacteria in the mouth
Alex
Hello

It is because ur mouth is a dark and warm place which is the perfect environment for bacteria to grow and survive. It doesn’t matter if u brush it really well on ur tounge there and groves in ur tounge where the toothbrush bristles cannot reach and clean so that is where the bacteria lives.

Hope this helps
