Well, sort of, but not really. There is a bit of ambiguity in what you mean by “cell division”.

In eukaryotes (which I will assume you are studying cell division for), there are two main types of cell division: mitotic and meiotic.

For mitotic cell division, DNA replication occurs during the cell cycle, but in the S phase of interphase … not during mitosis (nuclear division) or cytokinesis (division of the cytoplasm).

However, DNA replication is required in order for mitotic cell division to occur; and DNA replication doesn’t begin until the cell has become ‘committed’ to entering mitosis.

For meiosis, DNA replication also occurs in the S phase of interphase, but only before the first round of cell division (associated with Meiosis I); before the second round of cell division (associated with Meiosis II), DNA replication does not occur.

Base Pair
Attached to each sugar is one of four bases--adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), or thymine (T). The two strands are held together by hydrogen bonds between the bases, with adenine forming a base pair with thymine, and cytosine forming a base pair with guanine.

Which cell process occurs only in organisms that reproduce sexually
Levart [38]

Answer:

MEIOSIS is that cell process that only occurs in organisms that reproduce sexually.

Explanation:

Eukaryotic organisms are the type of organisms that have have nucleus and other membrane bound organelles. In complex eukaryotic organisms, sexual reproduction takes place. Through the process of meiosis, the production of gamete or reproductive cells i.e the sperm or egg takes place.

Meiosis produces four daughter cell from a single parent cell. each of the daughter cell is haploid. haploid means containing half the number of the chromosomes as the original parent cell.
