Answer:  "They were not just labor, not just bodies born to work and die."

This is the sentence that best supports the idea that enslaved people were more than mercilessly treated workers. Because of the stories we think of when we talk about slavery, there is a tendency to think of enslaved people as beings with absolutely no agency, and no inner life besides that of work. However, enslaved people also had goals, dreams, fun. They celebrated things, fell in love and laughed. In this text, the author wants us to remember this fact.

LUCKY_DIMON [66]
A and B are both key characteristics. So is C, but it is important to note that although most women formed the chorus, men also did sing. D is untrue, as Greeks often watched tragic plays, which although weren't specifically to make them sad, they were expected to feel catharsis (pity and fear) so that they could then purify themselves to renew and restore their emotions and themselves.

How does Cato’s exclamation about Carthage convey the Romans’ fear of their enemy?
-BARSIC- [3]

Answer:

Explanation:

Cato the Elder's famous line "Furthermore, I consider that Carthage must be destroyed" (<em>Ceterum autem censeo Carthaginem esse delendam</em>) was used in his speech that pushed for an attack on Carthage.

This was the result of his visit to Carthage during which Cato witness the wealth and prosperity of Carthage. <u>This awoke the hear the goods will be used for the attack on the Romans, thus Cato called for the war first.</u>

<u>The line tells us about Cato's fear of Carthage's wealth and possible advantage they might have with the preparations for the war. This is why Cato exclaims the need for destruction of Carthage before they attack first, to claim the advantage and dominance over the enemy that is seen as potentially dangerous. </u>
