To retain high-performing engineers, a large semiconductor company provides corporate stock as part of the compensation package.

In one particular year, the company offered 1000 shares of either class A or class B stock. The class A stock was selling for $30 per share at the time, and stock market analysts predicted that it would increase at a rate of 6% per year for the next 5 years. The class B stock was selling for $20 per share, but its price was expected to increase by 12% per year. At an interest rate of 8% per year, which stock should the engineers select on the basis of present worth analysis and a 5-year planning horizon?

Answer:

class A stocks

Explanation:

in 5 years, class A stock will be worth = $30 x (1 + 6%)⁵ = $40.15

in 5 years, class B stock will be worth = $20 x (1 + 12%)⁵ = $35.25

now we need to determine the present value if each stock:

class A stock present value = $40.15 / (1 + 8%)⁵ = $27.33

class B stock present value = $35.25 / (1 + 8%)⁵ = $23.99

since the present value of class A stock is higher, then the engineers should select that type of stocks.

Goodell Corporation just paid its annual dividend of $1.75, today. Dividends for the Goodell Corporation are expected to increas
AlekseyPX

Answer:

current price of Goodell Corporation stock is $48.26

Explanation:

given data

annual dividend = $1.75

expected to increase 1 year = 27.5 percent

expected to increase 2 year = 13.8 percent

expected to increase per year = 5 percent

required rate of return = 10 percent

solution

we get here first dividend that is

D1 = 1.75 × (1.275) = 2.23    ...............1

D2 = 2.23 × (1.138) = 2.54    ...............2

D3 = 2.54 × (1.05) = 2.67      ...............3

and

year 2 price will be

P2 = D3 ÷ (R – g)    ...............4

P2 = 2.67 ÷ (0.10 - 0.05)

P2 = 53.4     ...............5

so current price will be

P = 2.23 ÷ (1.10) + 2.54 ÷ (1.10)2 + 53.40 ÷ (1.10)2

P = $48.26

Green Frog is an environmentally friendly firm in the cosmetics industry. Even though Green Frog is environmentally friendly, th
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

D) Growth in earnings per share averaging 15% or better annually for the next five years

Explanation:

First of all, objectives must be well defined and measurable. That is why increasing profitability is a good idea but not a very good strategic objective, since a 0.00001% growth in profits will still comply with it. The same applies with growing market share.

Improving product quality will help improve total sales but it is not a financial objective.

The only financial objective that is precise and measurable is option D, which sets the goal of increasing earnings per share at least 15% every year.

How physical asset valuation (PAV) and research and
stellarik [79]

Answer:

We'll take this one after the other.

A. First Physical Asset Valuation (PAV) refers to the act of writing up or writing down the carrying value of an organisations assets in its balance sheet.

In simple terms, it refers to increasing upwards or downwards the value of an organisations asset in its balance sheet.

When assets are written down, the following are likely to occur:

Critical changes to an organization’s business model or strategy, such as termination of the business and  loss of a regulatory licence;

A significant reduction in the cash flow or bottom line of the business;

when the long term growth rates, interest rates or other financial factors such as prices or value of currencies, upon which a business valuation based decline, this impacts the valuation of an asset negatively.

B. Research and  Development (R&D)

R&D refers to all the studies, scientific investigations and experiments carried out to enable the discovery and creation of a new or innovative product or service that is more efficient and effective.

The reason there is a risk associated with R&D is that there are usually many elements of uncertainty.

The ideas being tested are usually novel and have not been tried before.

Some of the risks associated with R&D are:

the possibility that the new product will fail in the market;

a new product or service that is does not work

the possibility of cost creep. That is a situation where the cost of the R&D outweighs the potential profit from the product or service.

Cheers!

During 2016, Rao Co. introduced a new line of machines that carry a three-year warranty against manufacturer's defects. Based on
Over [174]

Answer:

$319,000

Explanation:

The computation of the liability is shown below:

= Total expenses in three year - actual warranty expenditure

where,

Total expenses in three years = Total sales × total percentage of sales

                                                = $6,200,000 × 9%

                                                = $558,000

And, the actual warranty expenditure is $239,000

Now put these values to the above formula

So, the value would equal to

= $558,000 - $239,000

=  $319,000
