Isn't it a function considered a function if it has no intersecting lines? Maybe you should graph it and see if it has intersecting lines or not. If it doesn't the it's a function if
it does then it's not. I think..?

Answer:

a) 3 b) y = 3x + 11

Step-by-step explanation:

a)

In order to find the gradient (slope), find the change in y or change in x (rise/run).

-2 - 2 / 7 - (-5)

-2 - 2 / 7 + 5

-4/12 = -1/3

Now that we know the gradient of line AB is -1/3, take the opposite reciprocal of that to find the gradient perpendicular to line AB.

-1/3 ⇒ 3

b)

Take point C's values and the perpendicular gradient found earlier and substitute them into the point-slope form equation.

y - 5 = 3(x - (-2))

y - 5 = 3(x + 2)

y - 5 = 3x + 6

y = 3x + 11

If m∠NOP = 24° and m∠NOQ = 110°, what is m∠POQ?
monitta

Correct answer for the above question is - option B. 86°

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Given:

∠NOP = 24°

∠NOQ = 110°

∠NOP and ∠POQ are adjacent angles

To Find:

∠POQ = ?

Solution:

Hereby, we can say that ∠POQ lies between line OQ and ON as given (∠NOP and ∠POQ are adjacent angles )

∠NOQ - ∠NOP = ∠POQ

∠POQ = 110° - 24°

<u>∠POQ = 86°</u>

Angle POQ is  86°

Thus we can conclude option B as correct answer.

The shaded region's area is x² + 23x + 49.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1; To calculate the area of the shaded region, we subtract the area of the square which has side lengths of (x + 1) from the entire rectangle. So we determine the equations that denote the areas of the two shapes.

Step 2; Area of the square = side length × side length (x + 1)×(x + 1)    = x² + x + x + 1 = x² + 2x + 1

Area of the bigger rectangle = length × breadth = (x + 10) × (2x + 5)                            = 2x² + 5x + 20x + 50 = 2x² + 25x + 50.

Step 3; The given shaded region's area = Area of the bigger rectangle - Area of the smaller square = 2x² - x² + 25x - 2x + 50 - 1                          = x² + 23x + 49.

So the shaded region's area of x² + 23x + 49.
