For
y=a(x-h)^2+k
vertex=(h,k)

y=(x-(-4))^2+(-3)
vertex is (-4,-3)

xintercept is where y=0
0=(x+4)^2-3
add 3
3=(x+4)^2
sqrt both sides don't forget positive and negative
+/-√3=x+4
minus 4
-4+/-√3=x
x=-4+√3 and x=-4-√3
xints are (-4+√3,0) and (-4-√3,0)

yint is where x=0
y=(0+4)^2-3
y=(4)^2-3
y=16-3
y=13
yint is 13

vertex is (-4,-3)
xints are (-4+√3,0) and (-4-√3,0)
yint is at (0,13)

Find the sum and product of the roots. 3x^<br> 2 - 4x - 7 = 0
victus00 [196]
Given the quadratic function, to get the roots we factorize:
3x²-4x-7=0

3x²+3x-7x-7=0
3x(x+1)-7(x+1)=0
(3x-7)(x+1)=0
thus the roots are
x=-1 or x=3/7
thus the sum of the roots will be:
-1+3/7
=-4/7

Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the segment whose endpoints are H(5, 13) and K(7, 5). (12, 18) (9, 7) (2, 8) (6, 9)
____ [38]

Answer: D. (6, 9)

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Midpoint is the "average" of the x's and y's:

Given: (5, 13) and (7, 5)

Midpoint: (\dfrac{5+7}{2},\dfrac{13+5}{2})

             = (\dfrac{12}{2},\dfrac{18}{2})

              = (6, 9)
