Which major Civil War battle is being described below? The location of this battle took place at the farthest Northern point the
steposvetlana [31]
The Battle being described is the Battle of Gettysburg. It was the turning point in the Civil War. General Robert E. Lee was marching his troops toward the Susquehanna River Pennsylvania. He planned to launch a massive attack on the North that would crush their spirit. On July 1st, 1863 he crossed the Potomac and engaged in battle with General George G. Meade in the largest battle of the Civil War with 165,000 soldiers fighting on the field of battle. They fought near the town of Gettysburg for three days. The Battle ended on July 3rd with Pickett's charge. In November of 1963, Lincoln delivered his famous Gettysburg Address, dedicating the Gettysburg Soldiers Cemetery. The losses of this battle were too much for the Confederate army and General Lee, realizing they couldn't recover, surrendered in Appomattox to General Ulysses S. Grant 21 months later.

What did the Framers of the Constitution create to resolve disputes between the states?
Sveta_85 [38]

During the Constitutional Convention of 1789, there was a dispute regarding the representation of the states in Congress. The large states wanted the number of representatives in Congress to be proportional to that state's population. On the other hand, the smaller states wanted the number of representatives per state to be equal among all states.

The "Great Compromise" was a solution to this. It was a combined proposal of the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. It concluded that the House of Representatives (Lower House) should have a proportional representation according to the population of each state. Regarding the Senate (Upper House), The representation would be limited to 2 senators per state, regardless of the number of people living in each of them.
