Answer:

The options 2√20 and 4*5^(1/2)  and 3*5^(1/2) + 5^(1/2) are the only expressions that are equivalent to 4√5

Step-by-step explanation:

We will factorise and simplify each term to get 4√5 in the end:

a) 2√20

   2√5*4

   2√5√4

   2*2√5    Because √4 = 2

   4√5

b)6^1/2 +5^1/2

  √6 + √5

  √2√3 + √5

c) 3*5^(1/2) + 5^(1/2)

   3*√5 + √5

   √5 (3*1 + 1)

   √5 (3 + 1)

   √5 (4)

   4√5

d) 4*5^(1/2)

  4√5       Because any integer with power 1/2 = √

e) 2√10

   2√5*2

   2√5√2

f)  3*5^(1/2)

  3√5

Algebraically, find all remaining zeros of f(x) = 8x^3 - 6x^2-36x +27 in simplest form.
viva [34]

Answer:

x=-\frac{3\sqrt{2}}{2},\frac{3}{4},\frac{3\sqrt{2} }{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given expression is,

f(x) = 8x³ - 6x² - 36x + 27

For zeros of the function,

f(x) = 0

8x³ - 6x² - 36x + 27 = 0

2x²(4x - 3) - 9(4x - 3) = 0

(2x² - 9)(4x - 3) = 0

(2x² - 9) = 0

x² = \frac{9}{2}

x = \pm\frac{3}{\sqrt{2}}

x = \pm \frac{3\sqrt{2}}{2}

Or (4x - 3) = 0

x = \frac{3}{4}

Therefore, all zeros of the given functions are  x=-\frac{3\sqrt{2}}{2},\frac{3}{4},\frac{3\sqrt{2} }{2}.

An exponential function is given by the equation y=3x. Using the points xx and x+1x+1, show that the y-values increase by a fact
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

Here we have the function:

y = f(x) = 3^x

Using the values:

x and (x + 1)

We need to find that the y-value increases by a factor of 3.

So we need to prove that:

f(x + 1) = 3*f(x).

Or we can see the quotient:

f(x + 1)/f(x) = 3

Here we can find the values:

f(x + 1) = y = 3^(x + 1)

f(x) = y' = 3^x

If we take the quotient, we get:

\frac{f(x + 1)}{f(x)}  = \frac{3^{x + 1}}{3^x}

Here we can use the properties:

a^n*a^m = a^{n + m}

\frac{a^n}{a^m}  = a^{n - m}

Using these in the quotient equation we get:

\frac{f(x + 1)}{f(x)}  = \frac{3^{x + 1}}{3^x} = \frac{3^x*3^1}{3^x} = \frac{3^x}{3^x}*3 = 1*3 = 3

Then:

\frac{f(x + 1)}{f(x)} = 3

f(x + 1) = 3*f(x)

So we found that the y-value increases by a factor of 3 between any two points x₂ and x₁ such that: x₂ - x₁ = 1.

I don’t get how to do it please help????
bonufazy [111]

To put this into simpler terms, well simplier for me anyways, Emma is dividing 9 inches of paper into 2/5, or .4, inches of paper.

That being said, we now just need to divide 9 by 2/5 or .4

We get 22.5

So Emma will be able to make 22 strips since we can't have half a strip. (Well, we could, but it would be small than what we need)
